Biochemistry of Emotional Eating

Audio download with Karen McGeehan, M.S., C.N

Emotional eating patterns are biochemical adaptations—patterns your body has established in response to the information it has been given. Everything you put in your mouth is information your body uses to function. Your body is flexible—forever adapting to the information it receives. If you put something in your mouth that compromises your body’s ability to function, your body will adjust to maintain its balance.

The Biochemistry of Emotional Eating will reveal the four key biochemical factors contributing to your emotional eating. These four factors play such an important role that the body will fight with everything it’s got to keep you biochemically balanced, even if that balance is compromised. Each of these factors consists of a special kind of looping pattern unique to its purpose. When you understand how the loop works and how it contributes to your emotional eating, and how to intercept the loop to reverse your problem eating, your ability to maintain a Way of Eating that supports a positive biochemical balance will become easier.

This audio download will teach you:

  • Why your emotional eating patterns are biochemical adaptations;
  • The four key biochemical factors contribution to emotional eating;
  • How to intercept the loop and restore your body’s balance, releasing the emotional eating patterns that cause you distress;
  • Why you must allow the symptoms of withdrawal (fatigue, headaches, cravings, anxiety and depression) in order to rebalance your system.

Feel happy and healthy through nutritional therapy...
audio download with Karen McGeehan, M.S., C.N

Most people want to feel good. Those who do not, fall into four belief categories:

  • Luck of the Draw—bad genes, life circumstances
  • “My doctor manages my health—doctors know best, that is where the responsibility lies. My medication manages my symptoms.”
  • Information deficit/overload—“I know I should be making life style changes and eating better but I don’t know where to begin. I’m confused with all the information out there!”
  • Know & Can’t—“I know what to do. I’ve done it before and felt great but I just can’t stick to it. I miss my chocolate.”
The good news is—you CAN change your health and mood by nutritional therapy. Through the strategic use of amino acids (constituents found in protein foods) you can first change the way you feel about life. Once you feel more uplifted and positive it becomes easier to make the other appropriate lifestyle changes: enough sleep, exercise, prayer/meditation, and healthy eating.

In your brain are four messengers (neurotransmitters) that regulate your mood. Most people have some sort of imbalance due to stress, lack of exercise, less than optimal eating habits, or genes. You may recognize some of these mood regulating neurotransmitters: serotonin (our natural antidepressant), catecholamines (our natural stimulant), GABA (our natural tranquilizer), and endorphin (our natural pain killer). Each one of them needs a special diet of specific amino acids for fuel. By providing the correct amino acid in the proper dose to fuel the neurotransmitter you are low in, you can shift your mood in as quickly as two weeks. By fueling the correct brain messenger you can manage anxiety, the blahs, oversensitive feelings, emotional eating and your cravings!

Through guided self-discovery, experience a more positive and joyous state of mind. Release your dependency on chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, or antidepressants in order to feel good. Find your unique individual path for feeling happy and healthy.
